The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (also called The Consumer Voice) has designated a number of events to honor and promote issues regarding seniors and other living in long-term care situations.
Residents’ Rights Month is celebrated in October, and applies to all residents living in long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, assisted living, and retirement communities. The mission of The Consumer Voice is to improve quality care through education, recognition and advocacy.
According to The Consumer Voice, “Residents’ Rights are guaranteed by the federal 1987 Nursing Home Reform Law. This law requires nursing homes to ‘promote and protect the rights of each resident’… Nursing homes must meet federal residents’ rights requirements if they participate in Medicare or Medicaid”.
Rosen & Spears encourage consumers, families and providers involved in any long-term care situation to become familiar with Residents’ Rights, in October and throughout the year.
Rosen & Spears, Attorneys at Law, assists many seniors and their families with consultation around issues of nursing home negligence, nursing home abuse, and questions of medical malpractice. Please contact us if we can help you answer questions about a legal claim regarding these issues.
